1st ​INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON “SMART AND SUSTAINABLE PLANNING FOR CITIES AND REGIONS 2015”

The upcoming international conference on “Smart and Sustainable Planning for Cities and Regions 2015” is organised by the Institute for Renewable Energy of the European Academy (EURAC), of Bolzano/Bozen with the support of the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP).

THEME

The conference focuses on innovative planning methodologies, tools and experiences which are aimed at supporting the transition of our cities and regions towards a more smart and sustainable dimension, approaching different scales, environments and perspectives.
Contributions ​from different research fields within urban and regional planning from the scientific as well as the professional community are welcome. Cooperation and demonstration projects are warmly invited to disseminate their innovative approaches, implemented activities and achieved results.​​

EURAC Research – Institute for Renewable Energy – Research group for Urban and Regional Energy Systems​

The European Academy of Bolzano/Bozen (EURAC) is a private research centre located in the heart of the Alps. With a focus on mountain regions, but a vision that reaches to Europe and beyond, researchers come to EURAC from all over the world to find solutions for the most challenging issues of our age. The Institute for Renewable Energy conducts applied research on advanced energy systems, based on or including sustainable energy sources. Within the Institute, the Urban and Regional Energy Systems research group focuses on regional renewable energy resource analysis and sustainable urban energy planning.

International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP)

The International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP) is a global association of experienced professional planners. It was founded in 1965 in a bid to bring together recognised and highly-qualified planners in an international network. The ISOCARP network brings together individual and institutional members from more than 80 countries worldwide. Members are planners and other stakeholders involved in the development and maintenance of the built environment
