“The Gritty City –New Approaches to Industry in Vancouver” is a proposed 90-minute working session that seeks to link existing and emerging global research with current practice in Vancouver, Canada. The focus of the session will be to share and explore ways in which policy, architecture, urban design, infrastructure and process design can enable industrial business to survive and thrive in cities facing significant local and global pressures. This conversation is nested in the broader discussion about the role of urban industrial activity in establishing a circular economy and sustainable urban systems. This special session is organized by Perkins and Will under the THEMATIC TRACK 3 – New value propositions in times of urban innovation ecosystems and sharing economies.
